I wrote the following during an early morning correspondence with a fellow gamer. I was attempting to encapsulate the relationship I tried to foster between my players and myself as their Dungeon Master Admittedly, it sounds cruel, but I’m a gamer from an earlier era. A better era? I’m not saying that. Just different. Hope you enjoy.
Behind the screen I am still your friend, but I’m also something else:
I’m the angry god on the peak of the mountain flinging lightning bolts and ill omens.
I’m the god of the wolves at your door, the blizzard howling overhead and the all-consuming flame.
My servants are grave worms, ghouls and things that go bump in the night.
Challenge the fate I have set before you, for the gods do love men and women of strength and guile, but hasten to remember: I presided over your creation, and I will preside over your end.

I think I want a DM screen with this printed on. Good stuff!
That really needs to be on a t-shirt or plaque or something. Awesome.
