What d’you think, are you up for the challenge?
Thanks to the official Konami GDC website (where the above image was taken from), we now know that the company behind the successful series is gearing up to begin heavy development on the next instalment, due for release on “high-end consoles and PC.” Does that mean XBOX 360 and PS3? Or their successors? No one knows at this point.
Now, of course, not many of us are in the market to become a “Senior AI Engine Programmer” on a AAA videogame franchise, but this announcement does serve as the first official confirmation that the mainline Metal Gear Solid games are going to continue in the future. This is the second Metal Gear game known to be in the cards. The other one is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, an action game starring Raiden, currently in development at Platinum Games. Little else is known about the ‘next’ Metal Gear Solid game, but good news for fans nonetheless.
