Thanks to worthplaying.com, we have the first details on the upcoming expansion DLC for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. It’s called Legend of Dead Kel and will hit Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Origin and Steam on March 20th, 2012. No price has been announced.
Here are the details:
Choose your own path and battle through a sprawling master-crafted world featuring some of the most intense, responsive, and customizable RPG combat in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
The lore of Kingdoms of Amalur spans an epic course of over 10,000 years, with Reckoning capturing a moment in this history and the tale of a singular hero capable of reshaping the fate of the world of Amalur. Every building, tree, and creature has a clear and defined history within this immersive world filled with extraordinary landscapes, mysterious cities, colorful characters, and fantastic creatures.
This mysterious and magical new fantasy world is created by New York Times bestselling author R. A. Salvatore brought to life visually through the trademark style of renowned artist and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane and developed under the leadership of Ken Rolston, lead designer of the critically acclaimed RPGs Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Featuring a mysterious tale of intrigue, danger and dark magic on the island of Gallows End, players will encounter shadowy characters and new enemies, and will experience a host of new side quests, treacherous battles and exciting new challenges. The Legend of Dead Kel gives players access to Gallows End, a gigantic new continent to explore where players claim ownership of a vast personal estate and experience new weapons, Twists of Fate and other perks against new enemies.
The Legend of Dead Kel DLC and the story of Gallows End will feature:
An Epic New Questline — The Legend of Dead Kel is only part of the story of Gallows End. It intertwines with numerous side quests, multiple dungeons to explore and a colorful cast of characters
New Enemies, Dungeons, Items — Multiple new enemies and enemy variants, a new dungeon type: Dverga Fastings, three new Twists of Fate, eight new armor sets, eight new shields and 18 new unique weapons
The Ultimate Player Housing — Gravehal Keep is more than just player housing, it’s a massive estate with multiple buildings and a full retinue of retainers, each with their own back stories, side quests, perks and quirks
Tons more to Explore — The Legend of Dead Kel DLC adds in more than 15% of additional land to traverse and explore in the already massively expansive world that is Amalur
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was developed by Big Huge Games and is also the first foray into videogames by 38 Studios, a company founded by Curt Schilling (yes, the bloodied sock, World Series Champion pitcher!), Todd McFarlane (the guy behind, among many other things, Spawn) and R.A. Salvatore (who’s known throughout Fantasy fandom for creating Drizzt). Also on board for Reckoning is Ken Rolston, the legendary game designer responsible for classics RPGs such as The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
